Cap’s natural wide herding flanks moving ahead of the flock

Not just ‘chasing’ – we move flocks away orderly, with class, and efficiency.

In some cases, we have even sent geese up and packing DURING golf play. Orange Vest & Whistle, and good timing we’ve cleared out 9 holes in 2 minutes complete. Players are impressed and appreciate the side show with a clear course

The Process

  • Familiarize every corner of the property grounds
  • Study behavioral patterns & movements
  • Begin intensive daily hazing sessions
  • Catalog activity & frequency as needed

The Objective

  • Significantly alter the grazing patterns of a flock ‘commune’ so they leave for good
  • Reduce the fecal buildup which create path obstructions and pathogen hazards
  • Achieve safe grounds to remove threats of attack to people, and offer humane option for Geese to vacate
  • Keep maintenance of greens growing healthy without damage

H5N1 Avian Flu is currently affecting anything near the Great Lakes and particularly, Chicago Region. Canines are not affected by the virus, but humans are. As the outdoor recreation begins in Spring, nothing could be worse than the appearance of the mess which these birds leave in their wake. Golfers, Little League, Soccer, children within School Districts – all may be exposed to the virus, and at the least the optics of a messy grounds.

Some Winter Work @the Driving Range- (Resident Geese do NOT Leave for Christmas Break!)
Even in sub-freezing Chicago February…they missed their ticket down South! No good. Kids are coming back next month!
Jute, working with clarity while meeting some new friends. Notice they are able to sound off the alarm ahead of his powerful outrun. No-nonsense Jute! Cap is more of a flanking dog but Jute is a more direct line dog.
Cap in Columbus Park before opening day – full Beast Mode on display
MORE Beast Mode by Cap, and water’s warm enough for Jute again
Clearing an entire front lawn at our first commission, Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Forest Park.
People ask why the ‘Stalky Time’ ahead of the outrun? This allows the flock to prepare for eviction. They alert each other to the threat, and this allows us to bring a few moments of reflection to the birds and give them the option to vacate. It also leaves a more lasting impression which may convince them to make fewer attempts as squatters.
Notice how Cap takes the initiative to clear out more unseen geese only he knows are there
Some lagoon outruns with a controlled recall. We do not like to send them into untested water

Specially trained dogs working with a handler are “the most effective way to scare geese away” as long as they don’t harm them; Meanwhile, the amount of wayward geese poop is declining
